The UJ DFC Civil Engineering Forum

The University of Johannesburgs Doornfontein Campus Civil Engineering Forum is a SAICE recognised student chapter that caters to the needs of the Civil Engineering students on the campus. The Forum was established in 2008 and fascilitates its activities under the SAICE JHB Branch.

The UJ DFC Civil Engineering Forum seeks to bridge the gap between industry and the university by exposing students from 1st year to final year, to the Civil Engineering industry. This objective is met by inviting companies to present on our campus and give us a sneak peak into their operations and what it means to be a Civil Engineer. This approach also helps students know what kind of companies are out there and acts as a marketing mechanism for the said companies.

Other objectives of the Civil Engineering Forum include:

  • Creating networking oppotunities for students with members of industry.

  • Promoting academic excellence.

  • Promoting Civil Engineering in high schools through the SAICE Bridge Building and Water Competition.

  • Changing perceptions about the industry.

Companies are hereby invited to present at the University of Johannesburgs DFC Campus. The presentations are +/- 45 min long and cover a variety of issues relating to Civil Engineering. Companies are encouraged to bring promotional material such as pamphlets and brochures for students. A newsletter "The UJ DFC Civilian" will be published and handed out during the presentation which introduces the speaker and the said company.

Should you be interested in presenting at the University of Johannesburgs DFC Campus, please contact the Civil Engineering Forum Chairperson - Tsepo Tshiwilowilo 082 555 4572 / tsepo.tshiwilo@gmail.com
